Web site traffic
« on: Dec 05, 2004, 04:57:30 PM »
Today I was reviewing our web traffic stats.

Our server stats show 28Gig of bandwidth usage for November. Last year, the bandwidth was right around 3Gig.

95% of viewers are using Microsoft Windows. 85% are using Internet Explorer.

We now have double the web traffic our nearest competitor:

Alexa Web traffic ratings:
www.MarlinCrawler.com 138,050 place
www.allprooffroad.com 277,911place

Absolutely. To be able to communicate with the tech guys, see pics of Marlin at work, and receive and share tips for building rock crawling Toys with like minded people, is one of the reasons this site takes up so much of my time.
I just discovered the picture wars thread, and I'm determined to see the whole thing. I have never laughed so hard at some of the sick stuff.

Traffic Rank for inchwormgear.com: No Data

That's funny....

i have something to say about Yotatech, I registered on there last night and started scrolling through their "tech" section and I saw more posts about headlights than anything else...how bizarre...our tech has actual tech articles in it!

Traffic Rank for yotatech.com: 84,835  Wow, cool.

We have a different demographic than you guys, that's all.  A lot of people are beginners there and and after a while graduate to pirate and the more hardcore places.  Otherwise, if it weren't for yotatech, pirate and marlin would be getting all the headlight questions.  Plus, I've noticed a LOT of incorrect advice here about IFS...just a different demographic.

There are hardcore guys on there who like to help out the newbies.  Our real tech articles (not just the posts) range from how to change oil to a SAS and also one of the first installs of a marlin crawler into a 3rd gen 4runner.

Are you talking about Steve Schaefer from Tempe Arizona with a 1999 Toyota 2.7l 4Runner? If so tell him I said

Yup, that's it.

But dang it now that I'm looking for it I can't find it, I thought we had an official writeup for it or a link to his page.  I guess not.  http://www.fastq.com/~sschaefer/MC09/index.htm

Anyway, here's all the tech writeups submitted by random people. http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/techpage.htm

With all the sales this creates it should pay for it's self. I know web space can be pricey. Thanks guys for giving us this little place to hang out.

We were paying $9 per month around the first of the year, but with the increase we have had on both the web site and bbs, we upgraded to a larger hosting package. We are now paying about $20 per month and are using just under 1/2 of our available 60G bandwidth. Considering our other monthly bills like electricity, rent, insurance, trash, phones, and so many others the hosting costs are insignifigent.
