Bent valves broken valve guides
« on: Jun 12, 2007, 08:05:00 PM »
Well I decided to do some work on my 22r.I decided to change timing chain, valve seals, and new header.Well when changing the valve seal on the exhaust side piston 3 and 4 the valve guides where broken and the valves bent. Now I'm going to buy new exhaust valves and guides. My question is do I need to replace the valve seats as well?I'm not doing any major valve or head job I just want to get her back together with stock size valves.

You should not have to replace the seats. If they are not worn out but you should have them ground and have the valves laped in by a machine shop. It should not cost to much to just do that you may want them to press the new guides in also.

I'm With Jimbo, you might as well replace them now instead of tearing apart the engine if they dont end up working.
