R151F swap
« on: May 31, 2007, 07:24:49 PM »
whats it take to swap an R151F turbo 4cyl trans and case into my truck. i have right now a 22re W56 and top shift case. the R151F i have does not have a bellhousing and has a forward shift transfer case. will the bellhousing off the w56 fit the R151f? will my clutch work with the trans? and do i have to do anything about the transfer case shifter?

Get back to me,
thanks

the clutch is the same but I'm not sure about the bellhousing.  I know that if you had the turbo bellhousing then it is as simple as pulling your tranny and putting in the trubo.  I put on in my 89 extra-cab in about 2.5 hours from start to finish.

Hope this helps, Justin

You need the bellhousing for the turbo trans. The R151 is pretty much a 6cyl. trans with a 4cyl. t-case and a bellhousing made to fit a 4cyl. The flangs also have a different bolt pattern.
