Sweet rear axle, been good to me!  Getting pulled finally after a couple years of sitting under there bored and stagnant.
Its available if anyone is in need.
IFS width, PIG chromo inner axles, Marlin eco seals, Japanese bearings(Koyo), AllProOffroad Eldorado Disc brake kit with SS lines, AllProOffroad Diff Guard, AllProOffroad Ubolt Eliminator Kit.
Make me an offer, or a trade :)

Got a bunch of badass 22re parts off my LCE engine if anyone is interested, as well.

Slipping this bad girl in its place.  Finally won't be a paper weight on my workbench!!
After it gets all outfitted!
Diamond 9.5 an inch narrower than my front.  Diamond inners, Full Float with IFS V6 calipers for now.

TMR Customs U-bolt Eliminator Kit.  2-3" stretch and super beefy

slow bits of progress!

Geezz... those Viper towers look like they are built for some very serious abuse!!

As I watched over the years the guys redesigning and replacing the parts that failed on the trails... here in AZ mostly serious rockcrawling.... they would strengthen one part only to transfer the energy to a weaker part.  What parts do you see potentially becoming the part that will possibly fail?  Or does your build design reach a point of almost no chance for a structural failure, or weak link in the chain.  I'm just curious.

During my sand railing days, the guys figured out quickly that a "weak link" was a better option, and decided, for example, they could change a low cost clutch disc in about 30 minutes.  However using the heavy duty feramic disc would eliminate clutch slippage, but the solid hook up also took out transaxles, which was costly and took about 3 hours to R&R.  That's when some went to the low friction clutch discs and higher clamping pressure plates.  So if they smoked a clutch disc.. it was typically a quick and less costly fix in the dunes.

good question.  I don't have a good answer.

My interests are to have a reliable and durable vehicle that is a capable wheeler on a variety of terrain.  Were i to think of a weak link right now, it might be the TG six shooter knuckles or the Fj 8" HOP front third.  Likely it could be the T-case output?
Damage is always likely.  It is nice to have a bag full of the parts that will break, but not likely those will actually be what breaks.  Its always the thing you thought wouldn't.  I guess thats why we all would our vehicles one way or another- to avoid the inevitable? doing the things we like.  Something will always break sooner or later.  Id rather not have a "weak link" in the chain.  Id rather build it to survive, and then fix what breaks.  What if that "link" breaks on some gnarly climb or sidehill?

Great build and an inspiration for what I'm doing with my 89 extra cab.  Did you get the 3.4 installed yet and if so are you running the exhaust on the passenger side?  Do you have any interference with the upper link and the exhaust?  I'm asking because I have a 3.4 that will be going in place of my 22re soon.  I have all the IFS removed from the frame is cleaned up ready for plating so the suspension is not installed.

I have read on install instructions that on a swapped 2rz, 3rz or a 5vz the upper link in on the drivers side.  Did you have to relocate yours or did you leave as you had it for the 22re?

Thanks,
John

Yo John,
Merry Christmas.
Don't have an answer to your question- yet!  Engine is still not in the bay.
My unofficial answer (read: what i think will work) is to have Driverside drop exhaust, giving me room for the Link.  This has been my plan.

Likely not going to have the time until mid-March to get to it hard.  Would love to think i will be wheeling it this Summer :)

Get sidetracked easy, esp. in Winter when its cold as F*** and the skiing is great.

Thanks for the reply Arron.  I have spoken with Brian and that is what I'm planning on trying also.  Hope to get the motor and trans test fitted in place soon.  Just ordered a Diamond axle for the front so it will be a few months before that arrives.  Enjoy the winter weather.

DAMN!!!   I am a slacker

Now, don't get too excited.  I don't have my 3.4 in, or my rear diamond- cuz i SUCK.  Too busy putting my life together last couple.
BUT- i did score a freshly rebuilt R150 trans. to use instead of my R151.  The R150 has a longer bell housing and keeps the shifters in the same location as a 151/22re combo when swapping to the 3.4.  A 151 trans would mean cutting 4"forward into the trans hull and the transmission shifter comes up into the center console at the radio.  Not cool.
So, one more biggie in the bucket.
Hope to get to it soon    ::) - ie this summer.  :P

Nice score on the transmission. I suppose it will be nice to be able to use 1st, 3rd & 5th.

Nice score on the transmission. I suppose it will be nice to be able to use 1st, 3rd & 5th.

that is a bonus!  Hoping this all works out, i like a clean interior and it was bothering me that i may have to hack the dash or sacrifice that lil pocket??
And it seemed like a quicker solution than having to fab up a dogleg shifter, and may even help give a bit more room for exhaust routing and engine drop to minimize hood encroachment.  No BODYLIFTS!!!

Marlin adapters to run gear drive t-cases behind an R150!!!      NOPE
Sadly, nothing is in stock.  A phone call MAY help, but i had no luck regarding a R150 3.0V6 to chain case adapter, not avail. and no real timeframe just estimates.

Need to move forward so......  Finally stooped to my low and bought a Trail Gear Adapter  :yikes:
ECGS had the best price and shipped same day. https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-135580-toyota-v6-transfer-case-adapter.html

Been a dedicated Marlin Follower/customer for Decades.  But..... customers need to be able to purchase items in realistic timeframes.  No product for MONTHS???

Now if we can only make some of those R150 short throw shifters and get them in stock  :attention: :attention:

Can’t blame you. I think Advance Adapters also sells an R-150 to RF-1a adapter.

Heres the basics i learned researching these simple adapter plates:

Rumor is the AA ones may leak

Marlins are not avail., and require minor grinding of one corner of the transmission to mount the plate.   Uses 8 of the 9 original Tcase bolts to mount.
 https://www.marlincrawler.com/sites/all/marlin/files/u1/6-cylinder-adpater-plate-instructions.gif

TG is avail., and cheaper.  It does not require modifications.  And uses all 9 mounting bolts

Talked with a few shops, they all say the plates are basic with no moving parts.  Again- If Marlins was avail. i would have purchased it regardless of price difference.  But.......

couldnt you technically swap the gears inside? and make it a hybrid R150/151F? so you get the lower 1st gear. MC used to sell this 1st gear as an upgrade.
