You mean Trail Gear?.Normally you want about 6" of shaft showing, what size springs are you running?.If you're running 4 or 5 inch you wanna go with 12s and if you're running 6 inch go with 14s.Also it depends on how high you go with your shock hoop.I've seen people use 14" shocks with 3" springs, they just cut into their inner fender and stuff the hoop as far up as possible.A 10" shock might be a little to short for you, hope this helps.

WyoTech is a joke, i hope you have a better time than i did. what axle are you going to use with your SAS for your taco?  i would not worry to much about the shock size untill you find your ride height then you order your shocks.

I thought those school's were supposed to be top school's to go for auto mechanics

they are good schools, however in my experience, the people that come out of these schools are golden spoon children. they get out into the field and basically try and make everyone feel inferior. some of the students actually know their stuff and are good people, but most are i know everything because i went here and you dont because you didnt....

on another note, back when i was a tire monkey, i had an ASE certified mechanic ask me how to change the rear drum brakes on a customers car, they didn't know how and had never done it.. this is of course passed the ASE test saying they were competent in the field
