got a jimmy 4.3L... it won't start it cranks but wouldn't start check all the wirings but there is no split anywhere....distrubitor was tosted and change that out but it won't still start...

anyone....help please....

check your control module.  verify that you have power into it and power out to the coil.

Need more info. What year is it? What is it in? For example a 4.3L from 2000 Jimmy up will not run at all if the distributor is not set at 0 degrees. The computer will adjust timing as long as the distributor is set at zero. It will crank, but not run. Is it getting fuel? If so, what pressure fuel is needed according to the FSM? Have you checked for spark?

its a stock 91 jimmy w/ 4.3 TPI.  the distributor was replaced and nothing esle was done.  when i first got the truck it was doing the same thing.  i took the cap off and the distributor was fried..so i replaced it...and still its doing the same thing. 

it cranks but won't fire.  it will sometime back fires and light up by the carb filter.

 Check the timing.  Pull the # 1 plug and turn the engine over by hand until you feel air coming out, then check to see if the rotor is pionting at the #1 on the dist. Also, make sure your plugs are in the correct order on the dist.

hey thanks it works now... the guy that i got it from pluged the wires up in the wrong firing order, but i found out the right firing order.  also the dist was in the wrong firing position.
