a 20R is good for 300,000 miles

About the best thing you could do with a 20r and running tires that size is to regear the axles as low as possible.

Get a header, Thorleys are nice and an agreeable price. Nice RV cam, weber carb, maybe change the timing chain while you're at it. You should be set.

Oh, and btw, from what I've read/experienced... the performance difference between a 20R and a 22R is very small... a little more torque on a 22R, a little more top end on a 20R... also 20R has dual row timing with METAL backed guides  :woohoo: So it can be said the 20R is a more reliable engine. As far as a trial rig is concerned, get yourself another t/c and you'll have plenty of power...  :twocents:

And my motor is relatively stock. Rebuilt with a cam and double row timing chain, and a Doug Thorley header that sits about 1/16" off the ground. It would be cool to have a turbo or something, but I worked so hard to keep the motor under the stock hood without cutting a hole that I'm just goign to leave it.

That's sooooo low man!  How'd you do the bags in front?  Did you have to go custom or does somebody actually make a kit?  Mine was only dropped a couple inches, but I was mostly concerned with how well it cornered, which ended up being way better than I anticipated for such little modding.  It sits a little high in the front right now cause there's no engine in it, but sits nearly level normally.

Theres a lot of cutting involved to put a bag up front. There is a "kit" but its pretty universal. Its basically some weld on brackets. It stands a total of 47" high at the top of the roof, lol. I'm currently reworking the front suspension. I and rebuilding everything to get more lift. Redesigned the suspension to get about 12 inches of travel, rather than 8.5" because I need almost 10" of lift to clear the tire. I'll get you some pictures of how to put a bag in there if you're interested. I'm putting a big bag up front, 7" diameter, versus the normal 6". But I've got pictures of before and after.
