wheel spacers???
« on: Sep 23, 2006, 01:05:32 PM »
Hello everyone, sorry to ask such a noob question, I tried to use the search but couldnt find an answer.  I am wondering what size wheel spacers I will need to run 35x12.50x15 under my truck without rubbing on the leafsprings?  Right now on my 85 P/U I have 33x12.50" tires with rims that have 3.5" backspacing and just barely turn all the way without rubbing on the leafs.  I plan on running some spacers up front to make the 35's fit with the same rims.  I have an 88 rearend that is 58.5" wide and my front is 55.5" wide.  With some 1.5" spacers on the front, the front would match the rear in width but I am not sure if that will be enough to run the 35's without rubbing on the leafs.  So what size spacers do you think I will need? sorry for the long post. thanks for any help.

i have 37x13.5 with 4" backspacing.  i run 1.5 in spacers.  if you are just going from 33 to 35 but not changing your width you should be fine.

You will be fine with the 1.5: wheel spacers.  That's what I run with 36" Iroks.

I run 1.25" spacers in front and back on my 83.  I have ran 36 SSR's and now I am running 35" yokohama's .  Little rubbing on the fender well  but a sawzaw will solve that problem.  You should be fine with the 1.5" spacers though even with the back spacing.  Anything above 1.5 I think would run you into some rubbin issues.    Wheel on! :driving:
bfg KM2's, 3" plain lift, detroit in front hp, twin sticking too.

Alright, thanks for the advice everyone, I heard someone from another forum say that it is not a good idea to have the front and rear axles the same it width, is this true?  I was told that the front should be slightly wider than the rear or the rear should be slightly wider than the front, is there a reason for this?
