here's my take..  im sorry i did not read through all the psots.. but  auto darkening helmets are awesome, if you do not weld for your career... I feel you will go blind or loose your vision because there is that very quick reaction time form the initial strike to the helmet darkeneing.. if you weld occasionally.. THen the auto darkeneing are brilliant..

Dude, you'll go blind from sun reflection long before you go blind from a auto darkening helmet that is working right.  The reaction time of most of the helmets is incredible.  It's almost as if the helmet darkens right when you "think" about striking your arc.  :thumbs:

so...we ran out of gas and wire at the shop this weekend and went to upgrade a bottle to a 250. ended up getting a gold lense to try out. question is...does the gold lense go toward the outside or insde of the helmet? one side is gold the other is dark like a regular lense. i put it to the outside, just wanted to make sure
