Bomb scare!
« on: Apr 13, 2006, 11:49:19 AM »
We had somebody call in at 9:00am this morning and say they mailed us a bomb.
Our security guy, HR guy, Yard supervisor and others knew about it and kept it from everyone.
The building was not evacuated, employees were not notified.
Cops are here now with bomb sniffing dogs.

Tell me your thoughts on this :dunno:

I'd be really F*CKING pissed off!  I would gather everybody in a meeting with management and vent your frustrations about safety!  They must not care about you!!

I'd get in touch with the HR and file a complaint. And then I would get together with my coworkers and have them all file compaints, so they have a bunch of them and maybe they will reailze they messed up. Big time. That is no joke! Imagine if there had been a true bomb and it went off. Say a worker passed, can you imagine the wrongful death lawsuit, it would be huge!
If you can't get them to think of your safety, I would up and :outtahere:

:  that is bad bad bad business.  The  first thing they should have done is evacuate the building.  Even if they don't tell you it it is a bomb threat, they should have evacuated, even if it simply met pulling the fire alarm.  The only reason they I can even think of why no one would be evacuated would be if the guy on the phone said he'd blow the bomb if he saw anyone leaving the building  (yeah, I know too many movies)  Did they even put the building on lockdown?  could people come and go?

I cannot imagine what they were thinking leaving everyone in place.  :headshake:

Business went on as usual. People still went in and out and had a confused look on their face when they saw the cops with a bomb sniffing dog.

Yeah, that would send the signal to me, either they don't care about you, or the person running this show is brain dead.

yeah I'd say they don't care about the employees of the company if they didn't evacuate.  I would definitely file a complaint and do it soon bombs are not something that should be treated lightly.  If they don't do anything about the complaints they will get or should get then I'd find a new job with an employer that actually cares about your life.

Well, yea the company should take part of the blame but ultimately the POLICE should have evacuated.

Where do you work? are there customers? would a bomb threat significantly decrease the company's business? These are questions to ask

Main Office Headquarters, 200+ employees, no customers.
Satellite offices have no more than 5 people per office.
