SAS on a 92 Toy
« on: Jan 09, 2006, 12:20:36 PM »
I have a 92 toy that im wanting to put a solid axle under. I have an axle out of an 85 pickup. I do drive this on road alot more than off road so i would like to use a sway bar with quick disconnects and a torque rod. Im new at this so i need any as many hints, tips and tricks.

I don't think this would be terribly hard to do.  Maybe zip-tie your sway bar up out of the way when you hack off the ifs crap then see how it lines up when you have the new axle in place and take any measurements to see how long of links you need.  After that you should be able to source out quick disconnects to the proper length, maybe nwor or?

Has anyone used a NWOR torque rod adapter. Also im in the process of finding a small block ford motor(5.0 HO FI Mustang) and trying to figure out what size gears i need to run with 36's?

Has anyone used the North West Off Road torque rod adapter with a SAS with a 5 or 6 inch lift? I would think 5:29's are to low because thats what North West Off Road recommends with the stock 4 cylinder. I'm thinking like 4:37's or 4:56's with the 5.0?

With a 5.0 and 36's you'd be fine with 4.10's
88 Toyota truck ( Under Construction ) Dana 60's front and rear 5.38's, welded diffs, 3inch Downey rears up front, one link rear with aerostar coils rolling on 39.5x16.50/17 Pittbull Rockers and 17x9 Pro Comp extreme alloys.http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=40816.0

So has anyone used the NWOR torque rod adapter with 6'' SAS? Ive herd that you dont need it if you use a hysteer kit? Is this true? I will be driving this more on road than off plus i will be putting the 5.0 in it if that makes a difference.
