I don't think it really matters, as long as you run at least a 16" fan.

If you want to run a 14" or 12", then please build a really efficient fan shroud.

I had a 14" on my 3RZ and it did fine until I did a snow run last winter. It was really cold out, but going 5 mph with it floored in 4WD trying to mush through new snow was not a good combination. High engine load and nearly zero air flow.

Once I get back for Fresno, a 16" fan is the first thing I am going to do. It has become too cold to ride the bike, so I need to improve my gas mileage a bit. An electric fan is a great way to do that-

Also, about a theromostat, somewhere in my project buildup, I posted a link to a really cool site that sells theromostats that are automatic. They continually varry the voltage depending on engine temperature. I am going to use that instead of a simple on/off thermo. It will make it much eaiser on the charging system

I am not sure what Toyhatsu is using, but both Dean and Marlin have a short intake setup, but it is nothing special nor does it need to be. Just remove the sound deading boxes and find and tube that is the same ID and get some pipe and an open element filter and your done.

The one on my truck was just some pipe that I found at a local speed shop, and I had measured out the length that I needed and what curve I wanted, and I just bought it. I think it was for some Mitsu Eclipse or something

the CFM'S are more important than the diameter. the taurus fan will work as long as it's positioned properly center low (unless it's a direct bolt in). Obviously the more surface the fan covers the better but if you can get enough at the hot spot which is where the return hose is. anything that can run at around 3500 should be fine. I run a flex-a-lite dual 12's  in my Taco
99 TACO 2.7 4CYL  HP d-60 front d-70 rear 5:13's and detroits 63" chevy rear springs second gen rears up front.
