The story on this truck is pretty interesting.

About 3 years ago this kid brought the truck in for some work, and even after giving the permission for the work that Marlin did to it, the kid could not afford to pay the bill and just abandoned the truck. Pretty crazy, but now its mine!

It definitely needs a good deal of TLC. It was last registered in 1999 so the DMV is gonna chew me up :wall:

The engine has been replaced and the guys got it running a couple of months ago, but I've personally never tried to start it. I dont care about this engine  :psss:

The coolest thing about this truck, is it's a SR5 with a factory sunroof! I've heard about these but I've never seen one, and here all along Marlin had this truck just waiting for someone to build it..

Pretty sweet!

Also, the shop was in the middle of installing this W56 the kid brought in, so it's pretty much prepared for what Im about to do to it  :psss:

Yes folks, that is a 3RZ-FE in my rear view as I trek across the fierce Mojave Desert in scorching tripple digit heat (in a V8 Tundra with A/C  ). And I've got it all. ECU (coming in the mail), Harness, fuse boxes, relays, air flow meter, o2, yadda yadda yadda

I'll be pulling the 22R + W56 out and giving them to Marlin, after which I will spend a long time getting the wiring figured out and will build a W56-HD using a W59 bellhousing. :best:

Along with the 2WD 95' T100 engine, I will be converting the interior to a 3rd gen (1989-1995) interior courtesy of WHITE_TRASH. So I'm envisioning a 1981 bobbed shortbed Hilux, 1995 3RZ-FE 150hp/177tq engine, 90-series interior, 35" tires (I don't have enough $ for 37s yet), trying to keep it as low as possible with about 3" or 4" lift, Toyota e-lockers front and rear, and of course a Marlin Crawler Ultimate.

My goal is to have all this done by Thanksgiving so I can play with Brandon on the 'Day after Thanksgiving Run'

Stay tuned for many pictures and updates!!

   :disturbed:

that's gonna be pretty bad ass :beerchug:  i wouldn't mind the 90s interior...but i like the 1st gen dash better than any of the others!  the '84-88 ones are really sterile looking and the 90s ones are kinda too modern for me

i can't wait to see how that 3RZ swap turns out

I'm not real knowledgable on this-is that a Supra engine?  Are they a direct bolt in or something??  I have sure seen a lot of these in trucks on the net.  What is it? A v-6, straight six, four??

Nice truck Mike. My first truck was a `79 RN36 with a 20r eng. I worked the springs a litle put on 33"ers, and had a lot of fun in it, belive yours will be a killer. Mine ended up being a convertible after a holiday roll-over and it even had a homebuilt stepside bed, looked pretty ugly in fact. But it did do the job as daily driver and weekend toy. Congrat`s with your projekt

Hey FIREBALL,

Since I know your good with molds and fiberglass, wanna help me make a hood? I want to buld a hood with a reverse scoop towards the passenger's side to allow air to escape from under the hood right at the windshield, can you picture what I wanna do? Instead of using a standard scoop that forces air inside, I want to have some sort of air directors near the exhaust header (after I get it pased the smog ref, I plan to get a header and modify it to clear the front driveline) and convince/encourage the air to exit via an inverted scoop above the rear of the engine on the passengers side of the hood... Have you done anything larger then that air scoop you made on your old 2?

Also, does any1 have any pictures of their engine bay after removing the inner fender walls? I want to do this for increased cooling, and 2 things, 1, I have not looked at the inner fenders yet, and 2 I've never seen up close in detail what needs to be done to remove them. How much does this weaken the cab and do you ever use some braces to help support it?

So if someone could post some pics of removed engine bay inner fender walls, let's see em! :scared:

Why dont you make a hood with 3 scoopes 1 in the middle forcing air in and the other 2 by the exhaust headers to release hot air...thats what Ive been wanting to do but dont know anyone who makes fiberglass hoods  :rivers:

I dont want to look like its all :bling: but thanks for the suggestion. It would actually be only 2 in my situation since its an inline 4-cylinder, I only have one exhaust manifold.

well do keep in mind that if the "scoop" is close to the windsheld then at freeway speeds , and below that the scoop will let air IN, not out! thats how the chev "cowl indution" hood works. high presser is formed in front of the windshield at speed. if you want to help cooling on the trail how about a elect. fan pointing at the header?
