I'm in the process of swapping in a 350 in my runner. The turbo 350 tranny I have has had the bellhousing broken and welded back together.I don't want to use it like this.I have several 2wd turbo 350's laying around. Are the case's the same.If so I am just gonna swap out internals and be done.

From what I've been told yes, the difference is in the tailshaft, but let's wait and see what others say.

I'm pretty sure the tail shaft is the only difference. When I was looking for a 350 for my swap I look around and eventually have a tranny shop build me one and all I needed to tell them was I needed the short 4wd output shaft. So from what I understand of it is that you just need the shorty 4wd output.

I had a 700R4 in my Chevy and went to a 350. The 350 was out of a two wheel drive truck. The only difference is the output shat is shorter in a 4 wheel drive application than 2 wheel drive. You can buy a kit that converts it to a short shat for very little money.

I know the shaft is shorter. The one I have is a 4wd.The question I was asking is,are the cases the same.Is one stronger than the other.

There are actually 2 if not 3 different cases. There is the 2wd case and a 4x4 case. The 4x4 case is called a "K" case as it has a letter "K" about 3" tall on the bell housing. The third I'm not positive of but I believe there is an hd case as well. If your guts are good, for $200 you can get a bolt on bellhousing from Jegs or Summit they use for drag cars. You actually cut off your bellhousing and bolt this to the pump comer bolts. It is super stout and saves the need for rebuilding a case.

all of the 350 cases will work, but the 4x4 case is better cause it's thicker.
running an aluminium pan helps with case strength as well.

The case I am going to be swapping the guts into is a 2wd,but it has a big H on the bellhousing, does that mean anything.I have heard the hd cases had 6 bolt cast aluminum dust covers rather than the 4 screw stamped sheetmetal one's,I know the 4wd 400's had this, but I don't know about the 350's.
