Yodaman's 85 reincarnated
« on: Sep 30, 2005, 03:35:48 PM »
Well, I have been doing some thinking. My 85 yota truck has been sitting out in my dad's pasture ever since I tore it apart to build my 4Runner. I can't stand to see it sit any longer, so instead of putting fullwidth axles uner my runner, I am going to throw them under my 85 and build a streatable trail rig out of it. Wish me luck this build may take a little while. Here are pics of it before the tear down. I will get pics of how it sits now tomarrow.

Nope, I have learned my lesson on tearing apart perfectly good trucks for parts. :hammer:  I will just use the runner for daily driving and light wheelin.

awesome, because i love your 4runner and i hope mine looks like yours some day. Its good though that your building your pickup though because you can beat the sh#t out of it and it wont matter since its a toy and not a DD. Also fill us in on everything going into your new truck.

How well do yall think a 22re will pull around a D70 and D60 with 38's and 5.89 gears? I also plan on dual cases so trail work shouldn't be bad just wondering about highway driving. :driving:

I think a big block would be better  :burnout:
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

no such thing as too big   honestly though, i doubt you will have any problems having too much power for those axles with a big block. I dont think you wil be breaking axle parts even when you get on the skinny in a sketchy situation.

To answer your question, I think a 22RE would be fine with those gears and dual cases, however you might want to tow it places to wheel because you wont be goin to fast on the road with that running gear.

I can't have a trailor queen. I would like to be able to drive it to the trails. The engine and tranny choices are still kinda up in the air. I have thought about going with a 350,700R4 and an np203,205 combo, but not certain yet. :dunno:
