Chevy/mazda rear springs which one is best
« on: Jul 24, 2005, 10:52:41 AM »
Within the next two months i would like to have 36s on my runner with a whole lot more flex than the 23 inches i have now.  I  am currently thinking of doing Chevy's rears or Mazda's, which ever one has the best flex. So if anyone can help with which spring to run, setups and flex that would be great. thanks

yes,  Mazdas will yeild better flex but at the price of wrap.  if you run mazdas, run a traction/anti-wrap bar.  Chevys will wrap too, but much less. To minimize wrap, I run a setp of toyota overloads with the long end forward as an anti-wrap leaf.  works good and doubles as a bumpstop since it won't let the leafs go into a negative arch.

I think f150's are a damn good spring. I have them in the back of my runner and they have really impressed me. They flex really good and they ride like a caddy on the road, plus they are a little shorter than chevies which I think is a good thing, chevies are just too long for a toy.I believe the f150's are around 57 inches long and come in late 80's and 90's model half ton trucks. Someone correct me if I am wrong about the years.

2.5 or 3" wide?

The 2wd's are 2.5 and the 4wd's are 3 inches wide.  I'd go with the 2wd's.  I've got a set sitting in the garage waitng to go on my 4Runner this fall.

Neither are better, just different...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... :hammer:  :hammer:  :hammer:
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
