T-Case question - Marlin...Help!
« on: Jun 15, 2005, 09:57:45 AM »
Ok, so according to Marlin-ology the case that I am using for my reduction box is a 1987 made in September, and the 471st made that year. The case is behind a W56.
The shift forks are nothing like the ones pictured in the crawler installation instructions.
Do I still have to shorten the shift fork?
Obviously I dont have to weld the key stock, being as the shift forks are totally different.
Help!

you shorten the rod in the rear case,
and yes you still have to weld the keystock.
both of those other rods are for forward shifting cases
hold this. . .

So I'm supposed to weld the key stock on these then?

the keystock goes on the short rod that goes in the reduction case, the one you show that is still attached to the fork.
hold this. . .

Yes, it is welde onto the one in the front box for just low and high, not the 4wd one.

So that piece of key stock is just to hold the shifter there correct?

That is the correct case for the date stamp, 22R-E with W56 and run quiet late model top shift t/case.

Shorten the drivers side rod by 1/2" in the rear t/case, and in the Crawl Box you will only use the Low/High fork, so weld the key stock onto it.
