Trail Descriptions:
Below are trail descriptions accessible from CA-108 arranged in west to east order.
Niagara Rim OHV Area [click for interactive map or download GIF/275k or JPG/450k image]
The Niagara Rim area is about four hours east of the SF Bay Area. Just head toward Yosemite and then go up!
Head east on I-580
I-205 east
I-5 north
CA-120 east
CA-108 to Strawberry ( 43 miles east of Sonora)
Look for forest road 5N01 (may also be signed Eagle Meadow Road) just past mile marker 42
Turn right and go about 300 yards to the intersection with Forest Road 6N24
To reach the Niagara Campground
Keep left on Forest Road 6N24
Cross the bridge at Niagra Creek and Niagara Campground will be on your left
GPS: N38.19.28.6,W119.54.55.5
To reach the Niagara OHV Campground area
Turn right at the 5N01/6N24 intersection
Stay on Forest Road 5N01 and go about two miles to the intersection of Forest Road 5N09
GPS: N38.18.40.7 W119.53.19.1
Several trails in this are have been adopted by the Mud Sweat and Gears 4WD Club out of Sonora, CA.
The trail itself has a nice mix terrain; from open grassland to dense trees, volcanic rock and granite slickrock.
Optional sections have been created to take you through some difficult terrain.
On this trail, the bypasses are the difficult and the trail is moderate.

Trail #29 on this map

Here are some pics of the trail

Stock 84 should do fine, I've seen pics of stock Land Rovers doing the trail.
If you don't have sliders, just avoid rocks.

No idea about the trail conditions, shouldn't be any snow up there though.
