22re timing chain cover
« on: Jan 27, 2021, 12:14:22 PM »
Ok I’ve found my oil leak. The top or hidden bolt was not even put back in???? Don’t ask cause I don’t know.  Anyway all pics and info on bolts says it’s an M8x50 bolt. Do I have to have an OEM style bolt? My work deals with large printing presses. They have a large maintenance shop with multiple style mm bolts. Can I use a regular 8mx50 with a lock washer instead of having to buy a full bolt set.

I recently just did HG on my buddy's 22re.., he had an Allen bolt with washer. I re-installed just like i found it..

Thanks. That’s what I was going to use. But I have access to others as well.

Style of bolt isn't important. Make sure it's not so tall it contacts the distributor drive gear on the end of the cam. That could cause some damage.

That bolt should not be over torqued, but should be tightened with the t-cover not snugged down.
