New to this forum; have owned my Toyota for a year now. Rebuilt the engine after the head gasket blew right after I built it, have been driving it now for the past four months. Some power issues I never noticed before, could have been there though. Thinking it was a cracked exhaust manifold as told by the exhaust shop. Anything else I should check or fix or do to solve the loss of power I'm experiencing?

Can we get a little more information on the engine? If it's a 22re and you have a cracked manifold yes it could have impact on power due to the oxygen sensor not making a correct reading.

Yes, it is a rebuilt 22re engine.

The 22re is a very reliable engine. however any little problem can make it run like dog crap. a little more info would be helpful does the truck have larger tires? if so is it re geared? are all the vac lines hooked up? do you have any stored codes or a cel light on at the moment? how does it idle? did it pass smog last time it was up? help us help you.

Hey 4Runner4x4

Here is what I know. Rebuilt the 22re after a head gasket blew, and that includes a new head and I replaced a lot of pipes, hoses, gas tank and other little stuff that was rusty and corroded out on the old engine. Some of my vacuum lknes aren in pristine Condition, but I BELIEVE they are all in the right place. I believe. I also replaced my air filter with a K&N air filter, thinking about getting a flow master something or other. I have roughly 29 inch tires, and stock gears. I want to get a suspension lift and gear upgrade with it, but one thing at a time. Idles a little Loud, can barely hear someone talking if I'm right next to a wall, like in a drive thru, and I usually have to give it a little gas to start it. Interesting since it is a brand new engine, but I don't know why it is like that.

does the exhaust make it loud or the engine is loud in general? Id replace your vacuum lines to start.

Working on replacing my exhaust manifold with an LCE Intake and I couldn't get my o2 sensor off. So now it is is going to sit while I wait for a new o2 sensor to come in the mail and then I need to figure out a way to cut my old one off and replace the whole thing.
