Re: 22R motor problems

So as I am doing the tear down(I know I have been really slow) I am wondering how the timing chain got to be 180 degrees off.  The information I have collected leads me to believe that this motor has 100k miles. The oil/crud on this motor during tear down looks like it hasn't been tore into at all recently.  The only thing that looks new is the carb (possible recent rebuild).

Anybody know how a motor could become exactly 180 degrees off with out the removal of the timing/front cover?
