Since you said this happened while you were out on a highway, I have to ask, how far from home were you?
I ask because I believe you can request to have the court session in your home city (where your vehicle or drivers license is registered I presume) which means that the officer will (hopefully) have to drive waaaaaaaaaay out of his way to appear in court -- increasing the odds of a no-show
