My wife and I also noticed that XP and Vista don't work well together, but Vista to Vista is even more simple than XP to XP was. She hooked a printer to my computer and it automatically set itself up on hers even though we don't have them linked in any way other than the same wireless internet hub. We still haven't even set up file sharing between the computers. It's good and bad as is everything in the world.
