A detroit or any automatic locker is just making the lash in your driveline noticable.  There is a certain amount of lash all the way from the input of the tranny to the differential, and it all adds up.  It's just when you get off the gas, that lash must be taken up, and visa-versa when you let off the throttle.  You get used to it.
