I'd check www.performancewebers.com before trying to rig a stocker back on.
I've had plenty of frustration with my 38dgas but I found an old haynes weber book and that helped alot.
They're iffy carbs but, they're also pretty simple as far as diagnosing and servicing once you get the hang of it.
The guy at the website listed above does some pretty simple mods at a great price too get these things runnin' straight up and sideways. I'm thinkin' of sending him mine but I also have the motor and harness out of an 85 runner I'm thinkin' of swapping in.
