When I switched senders on my 88 (for an SR5 cluster swap), the old sender also had a blade connector. The new one had the round connector like in your pic. I found that the old connector, had a slot in the side of it, so it could just be slid over the round head of the new sender. So the connector is now at a 90° angle compared to how it was on the old sender.
