Most of those shocks are the same damn thing just with different logos so be carefull your not paying 10 more bucks for a "cooler" logo.

This is very true when talking about the cheap lift shocks like skyjacker, pro comp etc, but not exactly correct for all companies. 

The best shocks I've run to date are the rancho rs9000s I traded to a crank feind for a set of monroes.  He knew what kinda deal he was gettin but was tired of the lift shocks bottoming out before his springs hit the stops.  I keep em on the 2nd softest setting till I hafta haul something, then just crank em up.  I'll probably lose em when I lift the truck, but I'm gonna try moving the mounts and doing some careful planning to keep them.
