Dan, that's gonna work I promise. I've had cold air blowing in my cab for well over a year and just now got off my butt to find out it was caused by air coming in around the fresh air flapper. I've told my friends not to mess with any heater controls in my truck cause in the first gens they have a tendency to get bunched up and usually are locked in the wrong place, but idle fingers take over. I disconnected the cable, opened the flapper and used some marine silicone around it where it mounts under the dash cause the stock seal was gone. When I first bought my truck I had to crack a window in cold weather cause even with the heater off the cab got too hot, and I'm finally back to that point, and my defroster once again kicks ass.
