In truth, the BEST thing to do is go to the gun store and handle a bunch. Find out what feels good in your hand. Then go to a gun range that has rentals and try some out and see how they feel when you operate/shoot them. Pay attention to how they load, feed, trigger pull, recoil, and all that good stuff. For me, how the safety mechanisims work is a big issure too. Personally I don't like Glocks, but they are good guns, just like all the other big names. Beretta, Sig, S&W, HK, Colt, Glock, are all plenty reliable guns, just find out what YOU like and think is fun.
