I like my S&W 4006 .40 cal. Very reliable and accurate. I prefer the .40 over the less powerful 9mm and the larger .45 with it's heavy wallop. It gives you the best of both worlds. Heavy and fast bullet.
PS-I also own a 9mm and a .45 so I am speaking from personal experience.
