Use lots of skinny pedal!
From what I have seen watching a few demo derbys try to keep the hits to the body and the rear. Once your radiator blows you only have a short time before you over heat and the engine dies. I wish I could go see the derby. Our state fair used to have one every year but its been a while since I have seen one. Good luck and make sure someone is there to take pictures.
