swapping the plug leads isn't gonna cause anything to flood unless you sit there and crank it for a good long while. sounds like your starter is whacked.
i had a problem for a while where sometimes my engine would crank and stall, and i'd lose all power to my lights etc. turns out that my battery wire wasn't making good contact and the vibration from the starter was shaking it loose
