Mud is a definate love hate relationship. I love playing in it, but I HATE the aftermath if I played a little too hard, Like clogged radiator, dead alt, stuck starter etc....
Of course all those problems where when I wheeled a JEEP.
I would Mount a clevis dead center of the bracket. If thats not beefy enough Maybe you can get creative and use an old Toy bumper, hack the chrome stuff off and use the mounts for some sort of anchor point.
I know what you mean with the tractor pull show when you get stuck, A factory tow hook does not cut the mustard.
I read on some forum that a lady was killed in England I believe, when her Land Rovers tow strap let go and de-capitated her, definately serious stuff, and should be done right.
