Not sure if it wouldn't still be with us, but the death rate would likely be lower. Sweden, who never had any lockdowns nor mask mandates, currently has a death to infections rate over the last 30 days of .14%, the U.S.'s is .735% over the same period, and Sweden's total death rate is 1.1%, whereas ours is 1.5%. When comparing CA to FL, CA's lockdowns, mask mandates, and school closures have made little if any difference, FL's death rate is 1.49% and CA's is 1.39%.
I'm sure it would still be with us as this virus will be part of our lives forever, like the other "corona" viruses we have. Just one more endemic infectious disease. With that said, the thing will eventually be like all the other diseases that have become endemic to our species and make it's rounds every season making lives miserable and ending a few along the way. Not the first, won't be the last.
