I think the Piloti shoes will end up being pretty comfy after they get broken in a bit. Wearing them around the office I noticed that they have significant padding in the heal and under the ball of my foot. Definitely a different feel from most shoes.
I'm really picky about shoes because I have had a couple of time in the past years when my feet hurt quite a bit. On one of the times I pretty much replaced all of my shoes trying to find something that was comfortable. I know I have some minor circulation issues in my feet and lower legs, but don't know how much that impacted things or if it was something else. I've pretty much started refusing to wear shoes that are not comfortable anymore.
Ecco is currently my favorite brand. I'll probably stick with them going forward unless they prove me wrong. So far I have a pair of dress shoes and casuals shoes. Next will hopefully be some gore-text light hiking type shoes, but they are $200+.
I recently started taking better advantage of my work providing safety shoes for me up to $100. I picked up a pair of gore-tex steel toe Keens for about $30 out of pocket that I wear to and from work so I won't be wearing out my personal shoes. I can get a new pair every 6 months, but I think they will last closer to a year if not more.
