gears arn't really an issue in a toyota if you are not removing the pinion gear. The ring gear only has about 4 adjustments. There are no shims to deal with on the ring gear with a toyota. You can do it!
Or weld it, I'm sure that there are plenty on this board who would offer advise on how to do it properly.
