Doing well with the socio-economic collapse/ SHTF will be dependant on lifestyle, not hording IMO. Not how much food do you have stored up, but rather do you have the ability to feed yourself and make do with what's around. Probably most of the nation of techno dependant and retail dependant folks will be hosed or at least in rough shape.
