Brake cleaner works in a pinch, solvent tank works better and a hot tank works best. For easy cleaning with minimal tools just get some solvent, a course paint brush, and a bucket. After scrubbing them in the solvent bucket use compressed air to blow them dry, wear safety glasses and don't spin the bearings with the air pressure, it's possible to spin most bearings fast enough with the air for them to explode or come apart (flying bearing bits don't feel good when they hit you). Also make sure none of the bristles from the brush came off and lodged in the bearing
When you reassemble everything give the bearing internals a lite coating of gear oil
