HOLY CRAP Yeller thats got to be boxed in grind all that rusty booger weld off and get it sorta clean then box it all the way from the rear cross member to the shackle hanger
Run a piece of rectangular tube all the way across and plate it in where it meets the frame.
Shoot Dave. It didnt look that bad at the Rim Trail. Did you wheel more after I left?
A piece of 2x4 rectangular tubing will fit inside the frame rail. I would cut off the damaged part and put in a new frame extension. Here's mine. I still need to put some gussets on it and an extra plate on the bottom to make a level place to mount the spring hanger. I'm going to add a cross member at the back as well.
step 5. hope it all holds together
i am not a fan of step 5.
i see room behind the box
maybe my 87 is different than what yer working on but the frame rail is only 3"...... found that out after I got some 2X6 rec. tubing cut to 4"... I should have checked edit: the Marlin bumper bracket is in the way as far as cutting off anything unless I take off the runner body that aint gona happen what i will do is clean up the affected area and slide the 2X6X4 into the end of the frame and weld away, I may need to remove the tailgate to do so but if I gotta... I gotta
How about using some channel. You could weld it in place then drill the holes to mount the bumper brackets back on.
i would do what he did
if I had acess to the frame like I wish I had I would but since I had to remove the tailgate to do what I did I dont see it happening, this will work thanksso would I if I took the runner body off the frame but since that aint gonna happen.....
i would still be redoin the frame in a similar way
