I've never run the Rubicon but I want to so bad. I'll be watching this thread as the date gets closer.

We should be going May 10th.  Hoping there isn't much snow left by then?  I've never been but I hear its great.  Anybody go out there yet this month??

theres still several feet i guess. there should be snow till memorial weekend. be careful out there. i couldnt imagine trying to head down the slabs on snow. that would be really scary. i imagine theres other ways.

Yeah if its too frozen, wet it might be dangerous...
We went to Fordyce last year around May 20th or so and there was no snow.
Wonder if its lower elevation??

Might be going out memorial day weekend, but not sure yet.
I'll see about making it on the June 13-15 run or the Rubithon run if not both.

IIRC, the Rubicon is closed during the spring run-off until the trail is dry, at least that is how it has been in the past.

the rubicon is never closed but it is also not advised to go there because of the damage you will cause to the trail if there is still snow or mud on the trail.  Check the rubicon section of pirate for current trail reports

Actually it does get closed down around the spring run-off time. I don't know if it's done every year or not, but I've gone up there a couple times and it was closed. The last time was just last year.
