Yeah. They are the trucklites. They came in Rigid industries packaging. They are one company now. They are about 3-4 times brighter  :dunno:

Last weekend I gave the front suspension some attention and installed poly bushings, new ball joints and new front wheel bearings, cause the existing ones were hooped!

Man I hate it when my bearings get hooped :).  I'm going to use that.

Are the poly bushings an improvement?  I used to do poly sway bar bushings on our Celicas and the difference was huge.

They are a definite improvement. The ride is much more precise and predictable.

I'm wondering if I could fit some Bf Goodrich T/A K.O.'s in a 215/75-R15 with a bit of lift?

Last weekend I replaced my 2x4 roof rack boards with some cedar that I cut to shape.

Then yesterday I found a set of 17" Mini Cooper wheels with 205/45zr17 Potenza tires on them. So this morning I installed them. I'm going to load some gear in the back and drive around to make sure they clear, but it looks like they will have plenty of room.

Just finished modding my spare flasher to prevent Hyper flash with LED's. So now I can finally install the LED's that have been bouncing around in my glove box for several months. This mod might be useful to first gen pickup owners as well; I think they use the same flasher. open up the housing and unsolder the single 3.3Uf capacitor. Replace it with 2.7Uf and 4.7Uf capacitor in parallel. Be sure to keep the negative pole on the same side as the one removed.

Yesterday I laid out all the holes for the door and fender trim, drilled them and snapped it into place.

Now I just need to repaint the stripes and she'll look complete again.

Today I repaired an exhaust leak on the Tercel. I wasn't sure which gasket it was so I bought both the bottom flange gasket and the upper cylinder to manifold gasket. I also bought all new bolts, studs and nuts for everything.

Unfourtunetly a bolt snapped when I was carefully removing it. It was one of the bolts that goes through the intake manifold into the exhaust manifold for the heat transfer. Once I removed the exhaust manifold from the engine I put it in the vise where I could work on it and was able to drill and extract the broken end of the bolt. It had been realy seized in there. I bought a grade 8 replacement at the local hardware store. After that everything went back together real well.

I made sure to use anti-seize on all of the exhaust bolts. I went for a drive to see if I had fixed the problem and it is sounding much better now.

Last night I installed my modified flasher and the LED's. When I tested it the flash rate had increased dramatically. It was as fast as a strobe. So I put the unmoddified flasher back in.

I think the mistake I made was to wire in the two capacitors in parallel rather than series. So I'll be changing that and trying again.

Capacitors in parallel are additive.   In series it's 1/(1/C1 + 1/C2) = Ct.

I like the fast blinkers

Digging this one back out of the archives before I say goodbye to her. The Tercel will be inherited by my nephew shortly as his first car. I’m getting everything dialed in for him so he’ll hopefully have a good running car. Right now the windshield is out of it. Water was leaking onto the floor through the seal so I had it pulled and cleaned up the flange with a grinder. It was actually pretty solid apart from a few pin holes that I filled. It was leaking because the entire perimeter of the flange had just enough rust to release the paint and ruin the seal. Their was nothing but tradition holding the windshield in place. It’s all cleaned up and painted now and will be getting the new glass today.

Next will be a fresh transmission and a carb rebuild.

Zippo is helping rebuild the transmission for this before it goes off to my nephew. This way it will have overdrive again.

This has a ton of little parts in it. It is a 6 speed transmission, transfer case and front differential all in one compact package.

Fyi, this thing has a million parts. And the input shaft is only 14mm how does that even hold up!
If you see it, its for sale.

It only had 63hp when it was brand new. It might have 50 today.

I just have to say that Zippo is the man! He finished the Tercel transmission over the holiday weekend.

I was able to replace the flasher relay so that I don’t have hyper flash anymore. I also spent all day Sunday tearing the dash apart and replacing the heater core and installing the A/C parts. It was nice to have a functioning heater for the drive into work this morning.
