Just wondering where the best spot to mount a battery would be?

Was that a sealed battery? Otherwise that would stink on a hot day and give off some pretty hefty fumes.

On my current project, I will be mounting the battery in the bed, in front of the passenger side fender bulge. I picked up a battery box, and a set of cables for $10. Well worth the money. I live in San Diego, and I think the rainy season is about over, so I don't anticipate any issues with moisture in, next to the box. Also as fair warning, if you mount a battery in the cab, the fumes from the battery can build up. These fumes are igniteable (they catch on fire). It is possible to blow your a$$ up if you decide to mount a battery inthe cab. I've never heard of it happening, but it's something to keep in mind. Always mount your battery's in a ventable place. In cab = No good

Big Mike, does that truck occasionally have starting issues?
Reason I ask is that frames are not particularly good high current conductors. The welded joints don't pass high current as well as you'd think. I'd run a ground strap up to the engine block off that bolt on the frame.
Cross threaded is tighter than Locktite

I'd be willing to bet that mikey has a good ground strap running from the eng. to the frame.
and as he's got the batt. running to it , heck it just a big pice of steel.

BLF knows me all to well (and it's really scaring the crap outta me  :scared:)

Nope, I've got zero starting issues. It cranks so quickly and immediately fires up each and every time no matter the temperature outside. I've not had a rough start yet. And I run about 40 amps of lights at night and I've touched all of my hots and the main ground from the battery to the frame and they are bone cold. All of my lights are perfectly bright, the system is charging at 14 volts all the time, so everything electrical on my rig is peachy-keen :beerchug:

As for the clearance & rock issue, I honestly :dunno: I know I still need to make a t/case skid plate before the Jamboree so I might make a smaller skid for the battery as well... But I will be relocating my batter rearwards by about another foot or so in July for plans that no one needs to know about right now :lipsrsealed: oh the suspense :psss: Got lot's of plans for my baby this summer, can't wait! :disturbed: All gonna be ready for the Round-Up
