Front Drive Shaft Angle

I have a 1983 solid-axle. I have fifteen inches of lift and forty inch ground-hawg tires. I climbed up a hill the other day and sheared my front yoke. What can I do to correct this problem of drive-shaft angle and tooth-pick thin yoke?

u can put angle shims under ur leaf pack to change ur pinion angle

problem with that is it will change camber castor and them it could lead to death wobble..I'm not saying it will..it could..
with that kind of lift there not much you can do..do duel transfer cases..That pushes your pinion back 6 inches..That will really help..moving the axle forward is also possible..

ya i c wutcha mean, haha death wobble? wuts that? where ur truck handles like on the roads with speed limits above 25?  u mean to tell me my truck isnt suposta shake uncontrollably???

I've read articles on rotating the knuckles and have been contemplating this method on "Bender". I've got some spare front housings to experiment with, just need the time. I've even figured out how to mount the passenger side leaf spring mount - minus the U-bolts.
This will get the pumpkin angle up and steering will stay sweet.

Just get a Crawler and forget about driveline angles for ever

Lower your truck      Actually if you havnt done it already swap in an 84+ trany and transfer case.  There longer.  This probably will not cure  it all, but a little here and a little there will.  You could also build front spring hangers that drop down an inch or inch and a half lower than stock.  Dont get to crazy of a drop hanger as is will change your caster just like shims.  What about moving your axle farther forward.

Actually a drop crossmember will help a lot.  since he has longer shackles the caster has changed already.  If he put the drop crossmember on it will make his caster almost back to stock.

yea,,dropping it will help,,but off road that sucks..yoiu want it higher not lower..Like I need to tell you that,,You only do that with a jeep

Cuting and turning the diff is also an option..Cut it at the balls and rotate..Most places with do it for about 75 a side give or take..But that 150 torwards a cralwer wich is way more cool..

Crawler is the way to go, it will help decrees the angle and then....you have a crawler in you truck, two birds one stone...sweet
