need help I.D.ing some suspension lift parts
« on: Mar 26, 2005, 10:40:17 PM »
I bought a pro comp 4 inch lift used off a 92 4runner, and am fitting it on my 1990 4runner, I got the front done, and have started on the rear, however procomp doesn't give any info on rear lifts for the 4runner, just for the leaf spring equiped trucks.

so could you guys help me ID these parts?
here are pics of 7 parts

part 1

part 2

part 3

part 4

part 5

part 6

part 7

also, I'm leaving for BMT for the air force :usa: April 5th.

I have a 90 4runner with a motor sitting on a stand, and half of a lift done.

If anybody in the Fresno area that is competent with mechanics wants to help me get this thing done in a hurry so I can give my very gracious mom her garage back, I would be forever indebted to you (I'll buy you beer and pizza as well :beerchug: )

Never been involved in a Procomp lift install but i can guess a few parts
Part 2 - coil spacers perhaps, install under coils (are they ~ 4 or 5" in diameter?)
Part 3 -  parts to drop track bar
Part 7 - sure look like leaf spring shackles to me :dunno:
The rest is greek to me. Have you tried procomps web site for install instructions?

Part 1 may be shock mount relocation brackets off of the axle shock mounts
Are both pieces of part 3 the same?

part 4 really has me confused since it is only 1 part

part 5 & 6 I have no idea about

and part 7 looks like a set of shackles for leaf springs right?  WTF would I have them for?

There are a bunch of install instructions here. Don't have any idea which one it would be though

so I've found out so far

part 1 - not sure, won't be hard to figure out

part 2 - maybe something to do with the springs

part 3 - drop brackets for the 4 link arms (don't know official name here)

part 4 panhard drop bracket

part 5 & 6 bump stop spacers (what happens if I don't use them, more travel, or broken parts?  which parts would break?)

part 7 - no clue, they look like shackles for a leaf spring kit, but why the heck would I have that on the 4runner?

just got off the phone with the excellent tech support at procomp, they were able to ID the parts for me as well as point me to the correct instruction PDF (http://www.explorerprocomp.com/tech_instructions.php #57489 if anybody is interested)

so here is what the parts are

Part 1 not sure, I'll find in the instructions though, not too worried

part 2 - bump stop drop bracket for the rear springs/axles

part 3 - rear track arm drop bracket on the frame side

part 4 - panhard drop bracket

part 5&6 - front bump stop drop brackets

part 7 - rear track arm drop bracket on the axle side

again thanks to procomp and you guys for your excellent info!
