Hello from Downunder!!
« on: Dec 10, 2014, 06:21:31 AM »
Hi everyone,

Another newbie thread lol.

Anyway, I'm from Brisbane, Australia and am in the middle of building a RN130 Surf. Here's a pic if i am allowed to post

This was taken after the initial SAS was completed. I am currently in the middle of a 3RZ swap from a 22r ( Charging system issues if anyone can help) However at the same time it turned into moving front diff further forward, installing dual transfer cases, dual fuel tanks, front and rear winches, front and rear detroit's, custom bar work, longer shocks and towers, rear disc brake conversion  and the list goes on and on as I'm sure most of you are used  too.

I should also take this opportunity to thank all contributors to this forum as it has been a massive help so far in my journey.

Cheers

Welcome. Looks awsome.  I just finished a 3rz swap myself.  Good little motor.  How does the rear suspension work?  Ive only had one 3rd gen four runner and it was swapped with leaf springs.

Thanks for the welcome.

The rear suspension is a 5 link rear, its had a little modification as i had to move a few things around to fit the disc brakes etc..

The grey truck is my housemates, it was the project prior to starting mine. We call it a LN106 Hilux over here, 1993 model, it has the 2.8L Diesel from factory, just about to get a hair dryer. Its running a 3' lift, rears up front, hoops, extended shocks, invert rear shocks, cromo front axles, reduction gears, spartan front locker, yukon grizzly rear and some other bits and bobs.

its diesel too? oh god  :drooling:

tell him to make a build thread please!

do u have the stock links in the rear? or did u lengthen them? i hear off road that stock setup links with a lift  can be really unpredictable and can tip u over really quick.

It's actually my first time dealing with a coil suspension setup off road. I have extended the panhard and fitted a drop bracket to compensate for the lift but at the moment the arms are all factory. I am going to do some testing with them first and see how it all works out on the trail.

There are some guys running around on extended land cruiser arms over here but I'm not sure if they increase stability at all. Unfortunately there is not a lot of info about these rear coil suspension setups, may be a little trial and error. And if all else fails chop it out and go back to basics.

Cheers
