Operation triage..
« on: Oct 30, 2014, 02:02:45 PM »
So with the recent trading of truck I have in my possession a sas 93 pickup. Sounds good right? Well let's dive in...
1. Efi has been half cut out and replaced with a Holley 350 carb. (Wtf why!)
2. Shock hoops were hand made instead of the $60 one from trail gear or marlin crawler. (Another wtf)
Well you get the idea so far, as I put up pics ill comment about what I see that's wrong and needs fixing and feel free to chime in if there's something I miss or could do better.
First how I got her..

Got rid of the ridiculous 20x12 rims with 38x15.5 tires for these in a trade... 35x12 km2s (basically new tires still have little feelers on them) on 15" rims.

It's really tall due to the ridiculous body lift and block combo, which are on the extensive replacement/ditch list. Not a fan of block since I've spit two out on separate occasions and fixed on trail which sucks. Never messed with body lift always seemed pointless and don't really like to look of it. So blocks will be easy so long as nuts back off. Body lift?? Could take a few hours... But over all yes there is a lot of building in my future but I'm ok with that. It kinda takes me away from the world...

Well I just ordered new shock hoops and a stud eliminator kit for rear pinion. I will try to post some pics while doing the eliminator kit. Once rearend has the new seal and studs, I will take it to a friends shop and cut/grind off old hoops and weld on new ones.
Next item needing replacement is front and rear shocks, fronts are blown from bottoming out, really not even the right size for the amount of lift. Fully compressed it has a total of 20" length and full extension was 29".

You said it has blocks right? While your at it you should pull the blocks. I'm curious to know what springs you have in the rear, your shackle angle looks pretty straight. What length (hole to hole) are those rear shackles. Do you have any better pictures of the front and rear suspension?

Will have to go out and measure. I'll put rear spring length on here too. I had planned on pulling blocks after fixing shock hoops, it's looking there will be a 1" height difference front to rear but that's not a big deal right now. Don't plan to take it off-road till I get the basics fixed and some trail armor.. So until then she's a street queen :-\

The rear shackle is 7" from eye to eye.
Rear spring is 52" overall, 23" from center of perch forward and 29 from center back.

Here's how even the rear shocks are setup and you can also see how big the rear shackles are.
