Just want to see what everyone thinks the better brand of tire is. Not sure how or if I can turn this into a poll.

I run the MTR. I daily drive my truck and need a tire thats tread wont wear too fast on the pavement. They also seem to work great off road in many different conditions. As far as balancing the tire, from what I have read the bigger MTR's are also easier to balance than other brands larger size tires.. kind of expensive, but do last on pavement so you get your moneys worth IMOP.

My dad and I have been running the new MTR's for about a year. I hate goodyear as a company  and the whole kevlar thing is a joke but thats irrelevant. We got the tires for a great price and they have a reputation for working well in the local terrain. Right off the bat my dad had balancing issues and they had to replace a tire. I think it was ocdropzone? on here that  had unbelievable balancing issues.  My mtr's balanced alright but they go square and run like bias tires for a few miles. prior to the mtr's I ran toyo mt and boggers. the toyos sucked off road, to heavy and they dont clean out. the boggers where great offroad but noisy and nasty on road. The mtr's seem very soft even next to the boggers. The do alot more talking in parking lots, how long they will last is yet to be seen. All an all my mtr's are working great offroad and arnt to bad going down the highway, they are working good for my needs but in my opinion there are alot of people having problems for a highway tire. I would be hesitant to put em on a DD. For the price I dont regret buying them but next time im likely going with one of the tsl's. It all comes down to what you use the truck for and whats most important to you.

I'll second the bfg AT's!  while I wouldnt feel right putting AT's on a dedicated wheeler those bfg's work great as an all around tire and they show up any other AT offroad.

I like my 35" mtr's. They are a decent compromise, great on the road, don't wear a ton on the road and half decent offroad. They don't hook up as well in wet muddy stuff as other tires but I spend 95% of my driving on the highway.

I got a set of used Goodyear wranglers that came off a humvee. 37-12.5-16.5. It was completely a price driven sale. $80 each for tires and $80 each for new rims. Wasn't my first choice but $640 for everything was too good to pass up

Only tire I have run off road was bfg km2s in 33s on an 84 4runner and they held there own on all sorts of off-road terrain. Decent street manners, slightly loud but it's an off-road tire.
Had some Mickey Thompson baja atz's that were a lil quieter on road but never got to really test them out on that truck since gas went up that Chevy truck sat since it had a 6.0 gas motor, but traded for a 93 Toyota pickup that's now sitting on 35" km2.
Guess I've always been a fan of bfg for street tires and off-road.

Have Kevlar mtrs on my 4Runner right now so far been great, the old lady has bfg ats on her tracker and they are killer in the sand snow and everything but mud really, I had km2 on my last truck they were pretty good too (not as good as the original IMO) and 39.5 bias iroks on the wheeler and they kill it everywhere I've put them ... My tundra has toyo AT2 on it now and they are good but I think I like my duratracs that were on it before they were a little bit quieter on the highway but I got the toyos for free with less than 200 miles so I'm not complaining...not a fan of the toyo mts at all! Way too heavy and they wore out so fast on my heavy truck...also worked at schwabs for a couple years in the past and I now I just have a bad taste about schwabs in general because the dude I worked for was a prick

I have some jeep buddies in the club that just got these. They worked well last weekend for them. I currently have some ragged out, worn TSL SX's,  upgrading to 39.5 Iroks later this year.

I like the cooper but they dont have the size i want in 15" rims when i bought my set so i went with the 37 14.5 15 toyo mt.  Its heavy alrite but havent yet let me down on the trail,  one thing is with its thick ply wall you'll have to air down pretty low to get better traction.

MRHilux87

Ive got 35' KM2s right now.  They are impressive.  Quieter than most on the road and they are soft enough to wheel really well.  I'll most likely jump on the MTR bandwagon when I go up to 37s.
I almost wish there were more 36s out there.  I worry about breaking stuff with 37s and 35s are kinda small these days...

I agree on the 36s as well.  I'm actually considering some old school radial TSLs in 36" for my next tire purchase. The guy on snowtrek.org swears by them.  Apparently the 2 ply sidewall really bags out nice in the deep snow which is the majority of our good wheeling available up here.

Any of you guys ever run the q78-15 tsl's? Supposed to be like a 35x10.

I run the 38.5 Pit Bull MadDog radials. I haven't had any issues with them. I run them down to about 6psi. Very good tread wear for the street. Great in the rocks.

On my FJ40 38.5x14 TSL SX's, they are the best on the slippery west coast rocks. For
the 60 overlander 285/75R17 Toyo MT's cause super heavy duty sidewall, and great resistance to sharp
blast rock granite in the mining country.

I have seen Toyo Open Country MTs outperform just about everything in snow.  A few years ago gotrocks had the pleasure of towing me up a hill with his 4Runner on 37s that nobody else seemed to be able to climb that snowy day.  There was a lot of tires represented and everyone else was pulling the winch except me because I had my own tow rig with gotrocks.  He climbed the hill on all three possible lines and then pulled me up the easiest line.  Nobody else was moving without a winch.  It was almost unbelievable.  He did quite a bit of snow wheeling and loved the Toyos.

Cooper will soon be releasing a new mud tire, the stt pro.  I prefer the look of the current stt, more of a conventional mud tire.  New version reminds me too much of an older courser mt

Where can information on this tire be found? I'm coming up empty.
