Well some people should get their hands slapped if they touch a welder or bender....

So with that said its time to rehab my new to me Tacoma...the first owner did a pisspoor job and some of the welds are horrid...I've picked better boogers than some of these...lol
I won't go into all the stuff just stuff I'm doing as I do it....and moving forward.

Deals I've gotten so far.
$390 39.5 Iroks  (4 75% no plugs or patches no damage)
$240 Warn 9.5 CTI winch no pulls
$50 canopy (all there BUT DIRTY)
$70 ecology wrecking dodge Durango seats fronts and rear bench with seat belts

99 Tacoma ex cab
Sas
Front axle: Wagoneer d44 (ARB Locker, 4:88 gears, nitro chromoly shafts, 300m u-joints, RCV 30 spline outer conversion,  nitro diff cover, warn premium hubs)
Rear axle: stock (ARB locker, 4:88 gears, full float conversion, cell a gt brakes with ebrake for 15" rims, Chromoly shafts,)
Dual transfer cases
Viair onboard air with tank
Bobbed bed 13"
Bobbed canopy 13"
Custom rack for convertible rear top
Custom bumpers
Warn 9.5. CTI winch
39.5 Iroks

What I've done in last week since getting it....
Cut canopy down to fit bed, added 39.5 Iroks, did front Chromoly axles with Excalibur u-joints and Rcv 30 spline outer conversion, added winch, made bumper, put in Durango seats front and 3rd row for rear, swapped nitro diff cover on, changed ball joints, redid bearings, adding 30" led bar tomorrow and doing creeper shackles mount in rear with longer shocks and new shackles.
Race line bead locks will be ready for pickup on the 21st

How it started

Then 8 cans of flat black

Started bumper

My warn 9.5cti winch I got for $240 from local car dealer...jeepers gave it to em with trade in

Grabbed a $50 canopy

Durango seats

Soft top framework

Got a care package from vendors

39.5 iroks

And a pic from this evening

Didn't realize how exposed these are underneath and where we wheel the pans would get destroyed....so making underbelly skids and from rai. to rail to slide off the rocks with.
Made the tranny pan cover today, started the cross bars behind transfer case and will add another the. Bend up some plate to make the whole mid section 1 big flat skid and keep the weight down on it as well...

Modified the rear shackles and packs some today...it works a TON better I'll finish up this week with creeper joints on rear shackle and longer shocks....
The front has another 2" at shocks of up travel...so I'll split it and drop the mounts 1" down

Had to find something high enough to hold back end up....new shop has all the lifts at it so running skeleton parts till I open up there...lol
Use what ya got.

Did the skids on the front bumper for bumping rocks and not hanging up...3/16 plate and center is bolted on so I can access winch bolts.
Headed to johnson valley too run sledgehammer on the 15th if all goes as planned.
Underbody skids will be done this week or by the weeks so I can slide over stuff...

When and did a small easy shakedown run to see what needs to be done...wheel well up front needs chopping at firewall, 37s hit so 40s will kill it...
Definently need to remember to bring air chuck, I didn't air down ran 30psi....all terrains suck for that btw....
List front locker due to damaged air line...repaired it now but some of the stuff with 30psi and no front locker was a pia...

Here's a view of the pacific ocean...you could see Catalina if looking slightly north....

This is a rock line I'm putting together...need one big rock for driver side middle and it will be flop alley....

Then another line we goof off on...nothing hard or major bit a good place to find things that need work before hitting the big boy trails...

Made some spiders for the rear sides and will finish them up...don't like the single bar design so will beef it up...

Some burning out on sidewall...

OK  maiden voyage is under its belt...went to johnson valley and ran chocolate thunder and sledgehammer at tinbenders....
Did amazing even with 37"  bfg all terrains air down to 4 psi....

Built a skid system for the underside, rear cage for tire and c02 tank, and s.capped some 40" km2's ON....

This is one of my favorite budget taco's.  Love the seating and soft top.  Jealous of the beadlocks.
Not jealous of the jeep shop sticker.  lol.

I gotta ask. Why are you advertising a jeep shop on your taco?

bullcrew

I build jeeps and have for the past several years but go between Toyotas and jeeps for my personal rigs...
I build mostly jeeps and love Toyotas so advertise where the jobs are at and specialize....

Sweet truck, all of the modifications make it look like a totally different truck. Looks like a decent crawler.

MRHilux87

Ya I was just giving you a hard time... Jeeps have their strong points.  Ive wheeled with some nice ones.  I just work for my money so toyotas make more sense.  Love the Taco though...

This....alot more bang for the buck, it has better belly clearance as you sit horizontal instead of vertical...lower center of gravity and Roof line...lighter longer wheelbase...by the time you sas em and link em they are ridiculous.....

Did the trail gear tacoma 3.4 hydro assist with the 1650 pump...what a solid set up....with the 2" ram it moves em wherever I point EASILY.. having a pre made kit is defeknently nice...I sourced and did my last  on  and it was way easier to just order this time...

Sorry for the sideways pictures...tablet has major issues can get pics to email over to it....

I got the hydro assist kit about 3 months ago from trail gear.  Never been their biggest fan but I too wanted a pre made kit.  Sure enough two months after the install the ram started leaking.  It worked great for two months.  Now I have to carry a stupid bucket and spend $30 in power steering fluid every month.  Havn't had time to send it in because Id have to get plugs for the box and everything.  PIA.
Hope yours works better.

Not too worried about rams....I can hit rules hydraulics, Howe or others for seals or even another ram if this is junk...rams are pretty hard to screw up....not much there....

Sorry to hear yours leaked that's crappy, I'm not too concerned not with the ease of turning...for the price if I have to spend a few bucks to refresh it then its worth it.....

Has yours been quiet?
This feels too smooth at 80mph, lol it swaps lanes fast....
