Weber Carb Question
« on: Aug 20, 2014, 01:37:16 PM »
Howdy all, I'm getting ready to change out the stock carb on my 83 22R and going to a Redline Weber 32/36 conversion kit.
My question for those of you that done this, does the stock Weber air cleaner clear the hood when its closed
and is this an easy or a bugger install since all the smog equip is MIA? Thanks

Sounds good to go, thank you for  the information. Are you happy with the carb and performance, just curious.

Honestly if its not a REDLINE id return it. the non REDLINE weber carbs are well known for coming out of adjustment and are in constant need of tuning. Never had to adjust my carb once. not even out of the box.. It was a redline. Also more expensive but worth it. Don't get the cheapy weber

I think telling him not to toss the stocker, just in case was good advice. Ive had three toys with redline webers over the years and they are fine on the street but for the steep mountain trails here in wa they are a joke even moded. EFI/pain is truly  the only way to roll on a wheeler but as far as carbs go nothing beats a properly tuned stock carb on inclines. As with most things I believe toyota did a good job designing there carbs. I see alot of noobs jump on the weber band wagon because they dont know how to fix what they got and assume an aftermarket weber is some sort of upgrade :smack:

I was just kiddin around. haha so hard to tell emotion through text. anyways. I agree. Its always good to keep your stock parts. I didn't sell my carb til I dropped a 3rz in and I no longer needed it.

I just really hate those webers.
I feel the 3rz is a great solution to all carb problems, wouldnt you agree Nation?

Well the carb made it here today, and low and behold its a Redline!! Just kidding, did some research prior to ordering and read a bunch about Redline v cheaper Weber.
I found stock Toyota carb knock offs from China for $150 new on Ebay but I don't buy China junk.
