whats better???
« on: Jun 23, 2014, 01:21:13 PM »
So I have a 92 pickup sas and locked front and rear. I love the rig and it has been great to me. But with the 22re and the automatic transmission I'm getting 8 mpg turning the 35's and I can not really spin my way out of mud holes. So I found a 4.3 with a 700r4 and there is not to much support for the automatic stuff. Only inch worm. But here's my question. If I swapped in the 4.3&700r4 what would be the best transfer case to run behind it???? I will probably go duals some day but I need to know what tcase I should be looking for. Thanks for your time

are you geared to 5.29s or 4.88s atleast?

8mpg is horrible for a 22re. somethings wrong there.

i would swap a 5 speed in it would be a lot more comfortable to drive like uphills. my 4runner on 37s with a 22re with 5.29s gets like 23 to 22mpg if not better sometimes.

if u decide to go with a 4.3/700r4 i would get an adpater plate and try to stick with toy cases just because there is so much support for them plus for duals down the road, although the chevy NPs arnt bad i wouldnt run one.
low n' slow 85 runner SR5 22re,rcvs ,Duals,5.29s,Detroits f&r,40s,RUF,Chevy 63 rears,Armored,Cage

bobbed and beat 91 ex cab,3RZ swapped,dual ultimates, dana 44 sas 5.38/5.29 combo,37s, RUF, 63 rears,ARB front, detroit rear,cage

Sorry but it has 4.88's and the automatic really kills the power not the low end. And I like it for shelling. I used to drive samurais and was always stalling them. So I'm liking the auto. But I'm thinking of calling yotaman Jim and buying a tcase. But I'm wondering what one to look for???

So I would obviously want a gear driven tcase. A question I have is are they the same input shaft??? Meaning all Gear driven tcases???
But a turbo Toyota tcase will be the strongest and the most expensive. But I'm wondering witch one you guys say to look for.
